This is an old fashioned diner inside an old fashioned hotel in an old fashioned town. There are no frills here. But there is a great diner menu, friendly (very casual) service & good prices. The atmosphere of the place is colorful, clean but sparce. Breakfast is good here but try the place for lunch. They serve a great club sandwich, a great burger & they'll try hard to accommodate those with non-meat preferences. Iced tea has been fresh every time I've had it. Hours are limited. Early breakfast through late lunch only. Worth leaving I-4 if you're passing through. Enjoy!

We are part of camp Doglando and stopped in here for lunch after one of our field trips, because we had 9 campers and 9 dogs being trained prior to adoption as part of our program. We had called the staff prior to coming and informed them and they graciously allowed us to come. When we arrived at the doggie dining area however there were two dogs in there with their families. The customers who had the dogs immediately told us that we could not come in there, because our amount of dogs was excessive and because this space was for members of the community. We explained that we are in fact members of the community too. The customers reiterated that 9 dogs is excessive. We asked them what they would like us to do and they asked us to leave. We ended up going to an eating area outside on the porch with all the kids and dogs. The owners and multiple employees came out to check on us and to make sure we were okay and assured us they would deal with the rude customers. Our waitress and multiple staff members were extremely accommodating and kind to us and enjoyed having the dogs around, even remarking on how well behaves they were. Thank you for turning an unpleasant experience into a pleasant one.

Sunil is the owner of the 1876 Heritage Inn and Red Roof Café. The place is located in Orange City Fl. It is family owned and operated. Sunil works very hard to create a fun and hospitable environment! He has a local musician (Brad Sayer) entertain once a month and Happy Hour ends about 7 PM. I'm sure you will enjoy your visit at the 1876 Heritage Inn. Thank you Sunil

Breakfast is delicious! My autistic son who is difficult to take places, loves this place. Chicken fried steak, potatoes, french toast, corned beef hash with grits, banana pie...all hot and homemade. Only recommendation would be to offer a fresh fruit cup as a side. Cant wait to try lunch and dinner!

We visited this restaurant with friends after a trip to Blue Springs. We arrived at 5pm on a Sunday immediately after their 'Soul Food Buffet', and we ordered dinner. We asked for 2 orders of the chicken fried chicken, and 2 orders of the surf n turf. The drinks came out quickly, but the food took no less than an hour, even though we were the ONLY table in the restaurant at the time. The server (Annette, who was very gracious and sweet) had to come back no less than FOUR times to let us know that they didn't have various items of our order left after the buffet, and we had to alter our orders time after time. When the food came out, we were facing another disappointment. One of the steaks came out rare and cold in the middle (we asked for medium) and the other steak was dry and chewy (we asked for med. well). We knew we weren't sitting down at a prime steakhouse, but this was ridiculous. Additionally, one of the chicken dinners came out was not breaded. We asked for a recook on two of the meals, but poor Annette had to come out yet AGAIN, to let us know that they were out of chicken breast but could make the chicken fried chicken with tenders. Our new orders didn't come out much better. The cucumber and tomato salad that came as a side was so acidic and had clearly soaked in vinegar for way too long--it stung our eyes when we tried to eat it. The coleslaw was soggy and far too wet. Additionally, the new chicken tender dinner that came out in place of the chicken fried chicken breast was so salty that it was practically inedible. We were all so hungry by this point, and everything else around was closed by that time on Sunday so we ate what we could stomach. Angry that a manager or owner had not yet come out to apologize, we asked to speak to them directly. When the owner came out she didn't say a word to us until we addressed her, at which point she proceeded to call one of the cooks 'retarded' (which is utterly inappropriate and completely insulted and took everyone at the table aback) and continued to stare at us in dumbfounded silence while we told her all the problems we had with the truly terrible meal. By the end of our conversation she managed to come to the conclusion that she would have to comp our meals, but not before being completely unprofessional. The entire experience was completely off putting and really put a damper on our night. This was truly the WORST meal I've ever had dining out. I can only hope that their breakfast is better.Your time and money would be much better spent elsewhere.

The wife and I decided to give it another go and what a difference. The only thing new in my order was the cook, what a difference. The meal was just great! Things are looking up guys, thanks a milluon.

Good food, low price, really friendly service! Don't Forget to check in on yelp and get the 20% discount for lunch Monday through Friday. The seafood platter ($12) was large and tasted good. My cup of chili ($3) had lots of chunks of beef, beans and jalapeños. The chicken fried steak, pineapple cole slaw and sweet potato fries ($8 or $9) was also delicious. The waiter was super friendly and refilled our drinks often. A definite nice place to come for some comfort food!

The building looked pretty dirty and dilapidated, but like it might have a back story so we decided to eat here. The original building was built in 1876 as a resort. It has been a nursing home, a Methodist camp and returned to "hotel" business in 1995. It now is an inn with 30 rooms but includes a café, a lounge and a post office museum. You can eat on the rap around porch or inside. We enjoyed our lunch with them. A friendly waitress took our orders quickly from their short menu. It was a bit longer to wait for our meals. We got $5 deals for soup and salad or soup and half sandwich. The turkey sandwich was fresh and tasty though the toasted bread was barely toasted. The beef & vegetable soup was flavorful but my friend felt it was "canned". It was kept in a crockpot in view. She also wanted a Caesar salad (on the menu) but they said they were out of romaine. So she got a good sized regular salad. The fresh food was fresh, the price was excellent and the place was quiet. The décor was 1-star, very dated, think poor quality artificial flowers and mismatched wall art of the 50s with historical photos on one wall. This place does not seem to be doing all it can to attract a clientele. Ambience is important, as is having the food on the menu stocked. We saw some nice looking sweet potato fries pass us by and a chicken salad sandwich piqued our curiosity. If they found the right combination/total picture, this place could be hopping!

Good old fashioned comfort food...mmmmmm. If you love salt, gravy, and all that is fried, welcome home. They also have fried green tomatoes which I have not had since I was a kid with my grandma. Only in the south can you take a vegetable and turn it into an artery clogging delicacy. I went with the country fried steak and liked it. Everyone was pleased with the food and the service. There was only one server at the time we came in but it was past the rush. The menu was pretty robust, enough to make me have to ponder what to eat. Overall, if you happen to be in town go for it.

Good food, good service, at a good price. Not much more to ask for. Breakfast or lunch is well worth a look.

Our first time at the Red Roof Cafe, last time here it was still Gram's. our experience is a major step up! I had the ribeye steak and eggs, and sautéed mushrooms on the side (instead of potatoes & biscuit). Our server, Sandy was very efficient and helpful, She seemed a bit serious at first, but we soon recognized it as efficiency and careful listening. This was the best breakfast ribeye I ever had, thicker than most places, higher quality, and cooked like a proper steak, seasoned to perfection! Mushrooms were a perfectly sautéed complement, and the eggs were also perfect. My wife's Benedict was near perfect, she doesn't eat grains, so Sandy arranged tomato slices instead (really good ones), not the cheap tomatoes inexpensive restaurants often serve). The point is, management and staff seem dedicated to providing a quality dining experience. The only reasons I don't give it five stars, is that I have only had one visit, they don't have half and half for the coffee, and the hollandaise sauce was slightly overheated during preparation, so it started to separate. We will return for their dinner specials.

Sunday soul food brunch was delicious and all you can eat for $8.99 was great. Service was friendly and homemade cornbread was to die for. Thank you a comfort food done right and a warm atmosphere.

This is an incredibly casual place. The staff have been friendly every time I've been there, and the food is delicious- especially the Friday all-you-can-eat fish. Very reasonable prices.
